The Ashton is situated just over a mile from Downtown Norfolk, the Neon District, and the recently renovated Waterside, all offering an array of options for entertainment, retail, and dining. On the site of the former American Cigar Company, the property will feature architectural design elements that resemble the historic cigar factory. The name “The Ashton” is derived from a popular cigar brand.

“Our Bruce’s Park neighborhood has always been concerned with the future of this historical site of the Old Tobacco Factory built in 1903. Many of us have family connections with the African American women who worked in the factory in a role known as “Stemmers” – those that removed the stem from the tobacco leaves in order to manufacture cigars.

The community will offer a selection of one, two and three bedroom floor plans with modern finishes, such as granite countertops, open kitchen floorplans, and many energy efficient design features to help reduce resident’s utility costs.

Property amenities include a state-of-the-art club house with fitness center, an outdoor cabana and grilling area and a playground.
